One Night Can Change Your Life

Can one night change your life? Ask Abdul Ghani and he’ll probably say yes. Today he runs his own small fleet of trucks. And to think that there was a time when he was only a truck driver. But one night turned his life around. When he was declared the winner of the ‘Super Outperformer Driver of the Year 2011’ at the Mahindra Navistar Transport Excellence Awards. Abdul Ghani won an MN 25 truck. And that win changed his life forever. It was a big change; of the kind that everyone thought only happened to big people.

But that is what made these awards different. They were about the people who worked dedicatedly and showed true excellence in Indian transport. It was high time they got their due and it was Mahindra Navistar Transport Excellence Awards who gave them that recognition.

The first edition of the awards had the biggest names in Indian industry in attendance. Like Praful Patel - Honourable Minister of Heavy Industries & Public Enterprises, Anand Mahindra - Chairman, Mahindra Navistar Automotives Ltd. and VC & MD - Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. and Barun Das - CEO, Zee News Ltd. The awards had 15 categories and there were many winners that evening. However the biggest winner was Indian transport. Because the awards gave respect and recognition to an industry that is largely overlooked.

Now the second edition of the Mahindra Navistar Transport Excellence Awards is here. With new awards like the Lady Transport Personality of the Year. And once again they will bring recognition and rewards to those who ‘accept no limits’, show ‘alternative thinking’ and ‘drive positive change’ three aspects which are the criteria for judging as well.
