Mahindra Navistar marches on with the Outperformer’s League

After a successful run of Outperformers League last year, Mahindra Navistar is back with another series of Outperformers Leagues. This year, the Outperformers League will have eminent speakers from the Indian Trucking, addressing various issues of Indian Trucking and to educate the stakeholders, trying to reach the grass root levels of the Industry.
In June, the OPL was conducted in Chennai and Jaipur.
There were 2 topics addressed and discussed at Chennai:
  1. Mr. Suresh Kumar spoke on the topic “Tyre Lifecycle Management”, highlighting the importance of choice of tyres, illustrating the construction of tyres between radial and non-radial tyres, re-threading of tyres and the day-to-day parameters to be monitored in-order to maximize the life of tyres.  The session very was well received and the Fleet owners have requested his support to build a ready reckoner/checklist for tyre monitoring and maintenance.
  2. Mr. Chandramouli spoke on the topic “Business Opportunities and Challenges for Surface Transport” detailing the trends, opportunities, threats to the surface transport segment. During the session, he also covered the  impact of the developments in related areas - like large ports and satellite ports, Roads, Information technology  etc.  on the overall surface transport industry. He urged fleet owners to identify the opportunities /threats and address them proactively.


The Jaipur OPL also had some similar issue to address:
  1. Shri R C Gaur, Logistics Head from Shree Cement spoke ex-tempo about present challenges in cement logistics and shared his experiences of over 35 years how the road transportation and its eco system have evolved with modern vehicle fleet coming in and improved roads to ply on. He also brought forward how transporters need to look into costs in more detail and provided examples of what is the cost of driver being idle for a minute, what type of Rs. per km per ton can help running vehicle efficiently in cement vertical and how all parties can benefit. He also provided and invited some transporters to participate in their logistics as they do have shortages of good transports which sparked of many enquiries post the speech. 
  2. Shri Pardip Varaiya, Head of Training, Indag, the second speaker for the evening, comes from a Tyre background of sales/ service and training. Having the expertise of working for companies like MRF, Apollo and JK Tyres in urban and rural markets in West and North, he had a lot to share. Starting from basics of tyre maintenance, how vital is this component – being second highest expense  next to Diesel costs, how good maintenance can provide enhanced vehicle performance namely fuel efficiency/ mileage / longer tyre life thereby improving margins for Transporters. He also showed some cut sections of tyres and wheel imbalance demo with one of the Fleet Owners from audience. The interactive sessions sparked off many a debate.
Carrying this forward, Mahindra Navistar’s OPL is sure to address and answer many questions that leave the truckers wondering.

Gujarat celebrates Mahindra Navistar’s 5000th truck roll-out


With the recent achievements of the Apollo CV Awards, 8Cr. Kms. Clocked and 1001 service points around the nation, Mahindra Navistar raises their bar of expectation with the recent 5000th truck roll-out at Chakan.

Taking its celebration a notch higher, Mahindra Navistar was the talking point for Media in Gujarat. Present at the occasion was the Mahindra Navistar MD, Mr. Nalin Mehta along with many media delegates to celebrate the 5000th truck roll out in Chakan. Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Mehta expressed his vision for the future of the Gujarat market and the team’s plan to launch newer products.

Also another special highlight of the evening was the 200 HCV sales clocked by the Mahindra Navistar team in Gujarat within a year. Top newspaper houses like Gujarat Samachar, Divya Bhaskar, The Times of India, Business Standard, The Indian Express, Sandesh, Rajasthan Patrika, Prabhat and Jai Hind, along with 45 top journalists of leading dailies of India were present to cover this occasion.

Mahindra Navistar celebrates its 5000th truck roll-out from Chakan


  • 5000 trucks rolled out from Chakan Plant
  • 4500 trucks on Indian roads, clocked/covered over 8 Crore kms under various applications
  • 1001 Service Points at strategic trucking locations across India (and growing)
  • 56 new, unique 3S large-scale dealerships (HCV & LCV) and 78 Dealership to support existing LCV business
  • Ranked No. 1 in TNS truck Track 2012 Total Customer Satisfaction study in the LCV Load and Mini Bus segments and joint No. 1 in the HCV (MAV) truck segment.

Mahindra Navistar rolled out its 5000th truck on the 1st of June from its state-of-the-art plan at Chakan. Mahindra Navistar has been bagging achievements one after the other in a very short span.
After winning the Apollo CV Award for HCV Truck of the Year, Mahindra Navistar has also been ranked No. 1 in TNS truck Track 2012 Total Customer Satisfaction study in the LCV load and Mini Bus Segments and joint No. 1 in the HCV (MAV) truck segment.

Mahindra Navistar has taken up the challenge to change the Indian Trucking for the better and help it outperform. For this, they have created 1001 service points at strategic trucking locations across India and are many more are on the way. Supporting the nation’s Trucking Industry are 4500 trucks that are already plying the Indian Highways, having clocked more than 8 Crore kms.

This has helped MNAL to be No.1 in the TNS customer satisfaction. Winning an award for your outperforming efforts is truly rewarding. But what makes it all the more special is, to win it twice in a row!

Mahindra Navistar, for the second time, has won the ‘HCV Truck of the Year’ award for its variant MN40 in the Prime Movers category at the recently held Apollo CV Awards 2012 at Mumbai.

The Apollo CV awards, hosted jointly by Apollo Tyres and CV Magazine every year, are one of the very few Awards held by the Trucking Fraternity to recognize and reward excellence amongst Commercial vehicle. This was the third year of the coveted Apollo CV awards aimed towards recognising superlative efforts of Commercial Vehicle and Ancillary makers.

The Apollo CV Award is a very significant one and all the key players from the Indian Trucking participate in the Awards, making the win for Mahindra Navistar all the more special.

Present at the Award Ceremony were the Mahindra Navistar MD – Nalin Metha, Nandu Khandare and Jim Pirie, to collect the award on behalf of the entire Mahindra Navistar Team.

This year was special for the Mahindra Navistar Team, as they have achieved twice as much at the Apollo CV Awards 2012! Dr. Pawan Goenka, Director, MNAL and President – AFS, M&M, was declared as the CV Man of The Year at the Awards.

The above two awards are no mean achievement and in fact are a culmination of  the excellent work that Team Mahindra Navistar has put for over five years.  And receiving one of the most respected Awards in the Indian Trucking only fuels the Mahindra Navistar further for excellence and outperformance.

All in all, an evening where Mahindra Navistar was the clear winner!

The Awards function was preceded by a Panel Discussion on the Commercial Vehicle Industry issues. Dr. Goenka, along with Ravi Pishrodi, TML, Dr. Sumantran, ALL, Mr. Anirudh Bhuwalka, MD, AMW, Mr. Akash Passey, MD, Volvo Buses, Mr. Sharma, Apollo Tyres and Mr. Ramkrishnan, Frost & Sullivan Market Research were on the Panel.

In Nov 2007, Mahindra & Mahindra, India’s fourth-largest automotive manufacturer signed 51:49 joint venture with Navistar International Corporation’s operating company, International Truck and Engine Corporation; North America’s largest combined commercial truck, school bus and mid-range diesel engine manufacturing and marketing company and is  in the process of addressing every segment of the commercial vehicle market from 3.5 tonne GVW to 49 tonne GVW/GCW with variants of passenger transport, cargo and specialized load applications.
